THIS IS A MUST READ FOR ANY HOMESCHOOL FAMILY WHO IS CONSIDERING MAKING A PURCHASE FROM HOMESCHOOL SUPERCENTER, CORE-CURRICULUM OF AMERICA (CCA), OR ENROLLING THEIR CHILD(REN) INTO ACTIVE LEARNING ACADEMY.  THIS INFORMATION IS PROVIDED TO MAKE HOMESCHOOL FAMILIES AWARE OF THE ILLEGAL, IMMORAL, AND UNETHICAL BEHAVIOR BEING PRACTICED AND PROMOTED BY DAVE AND ALEXIS THOMPSON, THE OWNERS OF THESE BUSINESSES.

The homeschool curriculum industry is appalled, we as a member of the homeschool curriculum industry are appalled, and you the homeschool parent should be appalled too.

When Homeschool Stockroom made the move to an internet presence to make our products available worldwide we immediately became under attack by Dave and Alexis Thompson, as have several other companies who supply curriculum products to the homeschool community.

►Why would they do this?

Simply put Dave and Alexis Thompson have set out to "control" the homeschool market. Their intention is to get rid of their competition and leave homeschool families no alternatives but to purchase their low quality and HIGHLY overpriced curriculum products.  The majority of products provided by Dave and Alexis Thompson are out of date, out of print, and are of low educational and material quality (even including BEST BUY VALUE BOOKS) at extremely high prices. 

►What have they done to harass their competitors, mislead homeschool families, and disgrace the homeschool industry?

1. Dave and Alexis Thompson purchase domain names almost identical to those of their competitors to try to confuse homeschool families into thinking they are purchasing from the genuine company. Dave and Alexis Thompson claim this is "recommended" by domain registrars as "good" business practice.  This is untrue and is against ICANN policy. What is ICANN? Click Here.  ICANN policy states that if "you have registered the domain name primarily for the purpose of disrupting the business of a competitor" (Paragraph 4 Section B Subsection iii) you are using the domain in bad faith and are subject to forfeiture of said domain by an ICANN review panel. Unfortunately, the process of domain dispute is costly, time consuming, and tedious.  With really very little reward.  It is simply more rewarding to allow the homeschool community to see how Dave and Alexis Thompson work.

UPDATE: AFTER VIEWING OUR POSTED INFORMATION ABOUT THEMSELVES, DAVE AND ALEXIS THOMPSON CHANGED THEIR DOMAIN INFORMATION ON SEVERAL OF THEIR DOMAINS AND PAID AN EXTRA $15.00 A YEAR PER DOMAIN TO MAKE THEIR INFORMATION PRIVATE ON A WHOIS REQUEST.  NO HARM DONE, WE ALREADY HAVE THE ORIGINAL INFORMATION.

2. Dave and Alexis Thompson include their competitors business names on their website and "claim" that they sell these companies products and packages.  Which is false and misleading to you, the homeschool families. Below you will find links to 2 webpages residing on Homeschool Supercenter's website.

3. Dave and Alexis Thompson claim "Core-Curriculum" and "Homeschool Supercenter" have an established relationship with thousands of publishers.  This is not true. Why would that be? Well the reason for this is Dave and Alexis Thompson have misled publishers, as well as, the homeschool community.  The materials sold by core-curriculum.com and homeschoolsupercenter.com have been purchased from publishers under the account of Active Learning Academy. So what does this mean? This means that Dave and Alexis Thompson are utilizing Active Learning Academy to make a whole lot of $$ from you the consumer, are breaking publisher policies, and are committing numerous acts of fraud. All of which are currently under investigation. How does that mean they are making a lot of $$ from me the homeschool parent? How is that breaking publishers policies? How is that fraud? To answer all three questions as simply as possible -- publishers extend a big discount to educational institutions (schools) that are not available to educational dealers (stores).  For example an Algebra textbook by the ABC publishing company costs a school $65.00 and costs a store $100.00. People like Dave and Alexis Thompson who deceive publishers and commit fraud like this do have a direct impact on our society and economy. What impact?  This results in publishers raising their prices for "real" schools and doing away with discounts for "real" schools all together. This means higher textbook prices for "real" schools resulting in higher school taxes for you the innocent homeschool parent in order to accommodate the higher textbook prices.  As we all know homeschooling our children does not exempt us from paying school taxes. But aren't we the homeschool parents saving money by purchasing from Core-Curriculum and Homeschool Supercenter since they have gotten their materials from the publishers at a cheaper price? DEFINITELY NOT!  They have gotten their materials at cheaper prices from the publishers but still charge you the customer "going price" for the products in some cases and highly overpriced rates for other products.  You are not saving money but are instead putting a HUGE profit into Dave and Alexis Thompson's pocket.

4. Dave and Alexis Thompson are deceiving the homeschool community with their school Active Learning Academy. They state on their website, "Looking for a Real Diploma and Transcripts from an Accredited Source?"  Did you, the homeschool community, know that Active Learning Academy Accredited themselves? That's right, the accreditation Dave and Alexis Thompson "proudly display" was created by them. There is a whole entourage of very dirty details about Active Learning Academy but at this point in time we can only say PLEASE USE STRONG CAUTION BEFORE ENROLLING YOUR CHILD INTO ACTIVE LEARNING ACADEMY.
